Ornamental Crabapple Profusion Improved
An improved version of the hybrid flowering crabapple bred by Directeur Moersland in France, Malus x moerslandii Profusion Improved is a small, ornamental deciduous tree, particularly compact, and a perfect specimen tree for year-round interest in the smaller garden. The leaves emerge coppery-red, turning a deep green in summer and taking on yellow and bronze tints in autumn. Profuse wine-purple blossom from April is followed by small wine-purple fruits which persist on the tree, too small to be worth picking, but attractive to birds. Self-fertile; a good pollinator for apples in Flowering Groups 1, 2 and 3.
